In Provence in the 1970s, our founder learned the traditional craft of making fresh goat cheese. Back in Sonoma, California in 1979, she launched her own venture and began selling her goat cheese at farmers’ markets — a first in the United States.
Chef Alice Waters — herself a pioneer — discovered Laura Chenel and showcased her cheeses at her restaurant, Chez Panisse. Success was immediate.
Today, her legacy lives on through a gourmet, award-winning range of goat cheeses, crafted in our LEED Gold-certified sustainable creamery located in the heart of Sonoma’s wine country.
